Present technology can save Government huge sums of money. Take the average day to day travel by one State Employee. It is estimated that a two day trip can cost over $650.00 when you total the cost of a hotel at $100.00 per night, $100.00 for meals ($50.00/per day) and employee downtime of $270.00 ($135.00/per day) and gasoline at $100.00 for a roundtrip in a state vehicle. Imagine a thousand or more trips per year. Obviously, the typical two day travel has become cost prohibitive.

A strong brand is invaluable as the battle intensifies to attract tourists and business opportunities.

Governor Bill Richardson Reappoints Roman Maes and others to State Transportation Commission

SANTA FE - Governor Bill Richardson today announced he has reappointed Johnny Cope, Roman Maes and Jackson Gibson to the State Transportation Commission.
 
“The Department of Transportation has had a record number of accomplishments in the area of transportation infrastructure improvements and traffic safety that in no doubt can be contributed to our State Transportation Commission, including a record year for construction with more than $533 million worth of contracts awarded,” Governor Bill Richardson said. “I have the utmost confidence that our Commissioners, under the leadership of Chairman Cope, will continue their commitment to evolving our state transportation infrastructure and keeping our roadways safe.”
